Current role of the GDK
The GDK conducted the inter-cantonal osteopathy examination from 2008 to 2023 and was previously responsible for recognition of foreign osteopathy qualifications. That recognition competence transferred to the federal system on 1 February 2020 and is now exercised by the Swiss Red Cross (SRK).
The GDK remains relevant for legacy inter-cantonal diplomas and historical procedures. The independent EDK/GDK Appeals Commission dealt with appeals against decisions under the former inter-cantonal osteopathy regime.
When the GDK page is relevant
This route is mainly relevant for:
- Legacy GDK osteopathy diplomas issued up to 2023
- Historical recognition or examination decisions under the former inter-cantonal regime
- Questions concerning the transitional legal effects of GDK diplomas
- EDK/GDK appeal proceedings connected with former GDK decisions
For a new application to recognize a foreign osteopathy qualification, the current recognition authority is the SRK, not the GDK.
